How we met

It’s funny to look back on how our story began, more than 10 years ago. It was the Fall of 2012 when I was starting a new job at a store in Newport, Helly Hansen. Little did I know that it was my future husband’s family business. I remember the day I first met Zack clearly. I was standing at the computer trying to log in, frustrated that it was my second day and I’d already forgotten my password when I looked up from the screen to see this guy with the best hair I’d ever seen looking back at me. He quickly went over to see if he could be of any help. Of course, he resolved the error within a minute and started this new chapter of our lives with, “I’m Zack, by the way.”

The Proposal

I had always known that Sarah was the one for me because of how big her heart is, our shared love for animals (most notably our dogs) and that she was simply my best friend in the world. I wanted my proposal to Sarah to be somewhere special that one day we could show our future family but we didn't have any trips planned so I had to hold onto the ring for months! Finally, we planned a trip to Vermont where we were going to stay in this little Norwegian cabin in the woods and spend a day in Woodstock which we visited a few years prior and mutually loved. I knew exactly where I would propose as Woodstock has an iconic 50+ year old wooden covered bridge. Well we happened to park right next to the bridge when we came to town so we went there first. After milling around taking pictures and enjoying the scenery (my heart was pounding through my chest) I asked Sarah to take our dogs leash so I could tie my shoe... my shoe wasn't untied I just wanted to propose to Sarah then and there. To date it was the very best moment of my life and we spent the rest of the day enjoying local Vermont food and beer then sitting out by the fire pit at our cabin. Just me, my best friend, and now fiancé, and our dog.
